# RippleXn > RippleXn creates a black box for consequential physical operations. It records what people > hear, smell, see and feel around an operation, and connects it with operational records, > weather, human reports and organisational response — so you can establish what changed, where > it probably came from and whether the response worked. In plain terms: RippleXn designs and manages the sensing around an operation, alerts a named person the moment something changes (smell, gas, dust, noise, vibration, water level), and afterwards produces one chronology explaining what changed, which activity fits it and whether the response worked. Category: physical evidence intelligence. Commercial product: The RippleXn Black Box. Positioning line: What happened here? Ask the Black Box. It explains it afterwards. /early-detection RippleXn designs and manages deployments using specialist instrumentation partners, selecting the instrumentation a question requires, and is not tied to a single manufacturer. Existing systems are used where they are fit for the question. Any material commercial relationship is disclosed. Families of sensing available to a deployment: - Gas — electrochemical and optical measurement of gases such as hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, ozone, chlorine, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide and methane. - Odour and VOC — photoionisation and metal-oxide sensing for volatile organic compounds and odour patterns, including recognition of a recurring odour signature against a reference set. - Particulate matter — particle counts and mass across the fine and coarse fractions, including PM10, PM2.5 and PM1. - Noise and sound — sound level in dB(A) and pattern over time, indicative rather than a substitute for qualified acoustic measurement. - Vibration — vibration transmitted through ground or structure. - Liquid and water — level, flow, pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature and nutrient indicators. - Air, climate and pressure — temperature, humidity, pressure, light and differential pressure across a ventilated space. - Weather and activity — wind speed and direction, rainfall, dispersion conditions, operational activity and human reports. How early detection works: 1. Learn normal — a baseline of the ordinary pattern at that location, hour and season. 2. Watch for deviation — parameters sampled at short intervals, typically tens of seconds rather than averaged over the hour, so a short peak is recorded instead of smoothed away. 3. Alert the right person — thresholds agreed by parameter and location, with alerts on screen, by email or by SMS to a named person. 4. Trigger the next action — an alert can start the next step automatically, such as additional sampling, a relay output or a switched process. 5. Record what followed — the alert, who received it, the intervention and what the parameters did afterwards, all on one clock. What early detection is typically asked to catch: fuel and hydrocarbon leaks; discharge to water; rising level and overflow; odour episodes; boundary noise and vibration; washroom and hygiene conditions; ventilation and indoor air failure; dust from works and material handling. Boundaries. Detection is not prevention — early warning buys time to act. Sensors detect change; identifying an unknown substance may require a preserved sample and an accredited laboratory. Continuous means continuous — a gap in the record is a gap in the account. A threshold is a decision agreed with the operator, not a fact about harm. ## The distinction that matters Technical standards tell an organisation whether it met the limit. RippleXn helps explain why people may still be reacting. The technical standard may be right. The backlash may also be real. The black box connects both to the same event. Know what happened. Understand the reaction. Show what you did next. ## What RippleXn does RippleXn creates a black box for consequential physical operations. It connects physical measurements, operational records, weather, human reports and organisational response into a defensible chronology of what happened. The architecture is instrument-independent. RippleXn is not built around one sensor manufacturer. Instruments are selected to answer the defined question, and may be supplied, rented, integrated or arranged as part of a deployment. Any material commercial relationship is disclosed, and the evidence standard does not change according to who made the instrument. The method has four stages: 1. Define — establish what must be proven, to whom, and to what standard. 2. Design — determine which evidence sources are required to answer that question. 3. Deploy — select, supply, rent or connect the instrumentation the question requires. Existing systems are used where they are adequate. 4. Explain — deliver one clear chronology of what happened and what was done. Five evidence streams are brought together: physical measurement, operational activity, weather and dispersion, human reports, and the record of interventions. ## Problems RippleXn is asked to explain - Odour source and response — where a recurring odour is probably coming from, and whether the response worked. /problems/odour-source-response - Rivers and fish kills — whether an event can be detected and sampled before the evidence disappears. /problems/river-pollution-fish-kills - Hospital environmental exposure — what changed in a room, and what activity coincided with it. /problems/hospital-environmental-exposure - Noise and vibration — whether the level, pattern, direction or timing is responsible for the reported impact. /problems/noise-vibration - Environmental investigations — what evidence can still be preserved, connected and defended. /problems/environmental-investigations ## What you can buy Three primary engagements: 1. Evidence-Gap Snapshot — from EUR 1,500, delivered within 72 hours of receiving the agreed evidence and inputs. Available evidence mapped, a preliminary chronology where possible, material gaps identified, candidate evidence sources, what can and cannot be established, a proportionate monitoring or investigation recommendation, and a defined next step. This price does not include a full monitoring deployment, hardware purchase or rental, laboratory analysis, specialist third-party testing or long-term monitoring. 2. Source and Response Pilot — typically 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the event and site. Baseline, qualified temporary or continuous monitoring, existing-system integration, operational and weather context, human reporting, alerts, recorded response, event reconstruction and a closing evidence report. Scoped in writing; no fixed published price. 3. Continuing Black Box Assurance — a continuous watch on the parameters that matter, with an alert to the person who can act while the event is still happening. The evidence record builds itself as a by-product. Continuous monitoring at short sampling intervals, thresholds agreed by parameter and location, alerts to named people, recorded alerts and escalation, an intervention chronology, periodic assurance reports, incident reconstruction when required, and clear records of whether conditions returned towards baseline. Scoped to the site and risk. Specialist engagements: Source Attribution Files (factual alignment, physical consistency and a narrowed likely source area — not a determination of legal causation), Decision Defensibility Files, and Evidence Readiness Reviews. ## Applications - Airports, including regional and small airports and aerodromes — identify which airport activity fits an environmental event. A first deployment can be three or four monitoring points around one live complaint, with rented equipment and alerts to the duty manager. /applications/airports - Aviation & Drones — match disturbance on the ground to the operation in the air. /applications/aviation - Water, Wastewater & Flooding — wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and storm overflows, rivers and catchments, discharge, rising level and flooding. Odour and hydrogen sulphide at a site boundary, level and flow at the point of concern, and the weather that moved it — detected early and evidenced afterwards. /applications/environment-water - Marine & Ports — connect vessels, operations, weather, water and community impact. /applications/marine-ports - Hospitals — give the room an environmental record without diagnosing the patient. /applications/healthcare - Hygiene & Indoor Environments — show what changed and whether cleaning or ventilation improved it. /applications/hygiene-indoor-environments - Industrial Operations — find what sits behind recurring odour, noise, dust or emissions. /applications/industrial-operations - Investigations & Enforcement — preserve a short-lived event before an investigator arrives. /problems/environmental-investigations ## What RippleXn does not do RippleXn does not replace regulators, clinical judgment, legal advice, certified laboratories, qualified acoustic measurement or official investigations. It makes no medical diagnostic claim. It does not detect drugs or diagnose infection. It does not certify microbiological cleanliness or detect pathogens. Source findings describe what is physically consistent with the monitored record; they are not determinations of legal causation. It connects and strengthens evidence and does not exaggerate what that evidence can establish. Findings may be subject to laboratory or expert confirmation where necessary. ## Key pages - / — homepage - /how-it-works — the evidence method - /early-detection — sensing families, alert thresholds and what can be detected early - /evidence-assessments — ways to work with RippleXn - /problems/odour-source-response - /problems/river-pollution-fish-kills - /problems/hospital-environmental-exposure - /problems/noise-vibration - /problems/environmental-investigations - /applications/airports - /applications/aviation - /applications/healthcare - /applications/environment-water - /applications/marine-ports - /applications/industrial-operations - /applications/hygiene-indoor-environments - /evidence-readiness-test — ten-question self assessment - /signals — writing on evidence and accountability - /about — company - /contact — discuss a live problem - /privacy — privacy and cookies ## Privacy The site holds only what a visitor types into a form, keeps it for two years from the last exchange, and passes it to no third party for their own marketing.
